Our Mission

The Diamond State Concert Band is a non-profit, tax-exempt, all-volunteer organization dedicated to providing concerts to our community and to providing a place for musicians to practice their skills. In our 25+ years of existence, we have played over 350 concerts to a total audience in excess of 750,000 in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

This program is made possible, in part, by grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware. We're 30 & Having a Birthday Party!

Come Join the Celebration!

On July 4th, the Diamond State Concert Band turns 30! Originally formed in 1976 for our nation's Bicentenial Independence Day celebration, the Diamond State Concert Band has performed at hundreds of venues and more than 1 million audience members.

This July 4th & 5th, we will celebrate with back to back performances.  On July 4th, we'll play to a large crowd in Marcus Hook. On July 5th, we will perform a special concert at the Delaware Art Museum and have birthday party and alumni reception afterwards.  We hope that you will come and join us and play a song or two.

Storm the Bastille with DSCB in Philadelphia!

The Eastern State Penitentiary (www.easternstate.org ) has asked us to play French and American favorites (including La Marseillaise, the French national anthem) at their Bastille Day re-enactment.  This former prison and current historic site will re-enact the beheading of French royalty and cake will be had by all.  Seriously, this concert will be on Saturday July 15th at 4pm at 22nd Street and Fairmount Avenue outside the Eastern State Penitentiary, which is just a few blocks from the Philadelphia Art Museum and great restaurants.

DSCB's CD Release Party - July 5th!

Our first CD will be released at the anniversary celebration at the Delaware Art Museum on July 5th at 6:30pm.  Recorded at last years Veterans' Day concert, this recording of 10 songs tells an important story about the relationship between WWII and the music of that era.  A PowerPoint presentation posted on DSCB's website (www.dscb.org ) helps tell that story.  These CDs will be distributed to schools at no charge; they'll be available from the band for $10. This project

was made possible by the Delaware Humanities Forum (www.dhf.org ).
