Eastern Tandem Rally, Inc., a non-profit, volunteer group, exists to promote the sport of tandem bicycle riding, principally in the Northeastern United States.

ETR sponsors at least two tandem bicycle rally each year. The main rally Eastern Tandem Rally and a smaller Rally, MATES ( Mid-Atlantic Tandem EnthusiastS).

Event name: Tandems OffRoad at Minnewaska-Mohonk

Event description: Two days of riding unpaved dual track at Minnewaska State Park and Mohonk Mountain Preserve just west of New Paltz, NY. Suitable for offroad tandems or cyclocross road tires. Maps will be provided and expect to break into informal groups according to ability and speed. This is one of the prettiest areas we've ever ridden. Cliffs and views.

Ride Distance: 15-30 miles per day with multiple loops available

Terrain: Approximately 80 miles of unpaved carriage trails on the Shawangunk Mountains between 1000-2200' elevation. Some short steep grades, low gears recommended but few extended hills. Very good for the beginning off-road team, nothing technical.

Driving Directions: North on NY Thruway to New Paltz exit 18, west on 299 thought New Paltz to Route 55.

Food: Food: Breakfasts at the lodge. You can get lunches to eat out on the trails at the Bistro Mountain Store adjacent to the Lodge. (Allow some time or order the day before as they are very busy!) Dinners at local restaurants.
